An early morning accident has claimed the life of a pedestrian in Mira Mesa. The San Diego Police report that at approximately 9:00 am, a 76-year-old female pedestrian attempted to cross the street in the 10800 block of Westonhill Drive. A 74-year-old male driver was traveling southbound on Westonhill and struck the pedestrian. Police report that the victim suffered a broken pelvis, broken jaw, and serious head injuries. She was rushed to the hospital, but later died of her injuries. Police have not released the name of either the victim or the driver.
The accident comes exactly one month after two pedestrians were struck while crossing Mira Mesa Blvd at Marbury Avenue. In that incident, the eastbound driver ran a red light and struck the victims while they were in the cross walk. 59-year-old Lilian Sta Romana Ramos died at the scene, and her 64-year-old husband suffered significant injuries.
